Our Clinical Director, Lindsay Lederman, speaks with Preston throughout the film providing a deeper insight into the healing power of art and mental health. JOURNEY: A Multi-Media Live Art Experience by Annika Rhea

October 2022

Box Factory Gallery welcomes you to experience art from inside the very act of creation where performance painter, Annika Rhea will present "Journey" with live music by composer Tasso Zapanti and live filming by Javier Alvarez.

Journey takes the audience on an artist's journey, from the conception of an idea through the stages of the creative cycle, represented as five different sections of the canvas. The metaphorical narrative follows the story of an idea and highlights the human experience and emotional range that is experienced when bringing a vision to life.

Rhea communicates the concepts with her performance painting technique, Body Medium, that utilizes the body as a paintbrush, motion as the strokes and the canvas as a stage to create the 45 foot long abstract expressionist painting.

The evening will begin upstairs in the Box Factory Gallery to experience live music and to the exhibit The Human Form, featuring works by artists who explore the human form and its relationship to space, emotion and identity.

After the performance, audience members will then have a chance to purchase select sizes of the piece created.

Let’s Talk Art Therapy.

Diversity + Stigma in Communities of Color

February 2021

Let's talk about art therapy and communities of color. We notice a disconnect between racial diversity and the field of art therapy. Issues like: stigma around mental health and the use of language and terminology within the field. What's going on? How can we be more inclusive? As professionals, what can we do to advance the field?

The Art Therapy Project and Artistic Noise collaborated for an insightful conversation featuring leading art therapists in New York City. Moderated by Liz DelliCarpini, MAAT, ATR-BC, LCAT, ATCS with guest participants Joshua Brancheau, ATR-BC, LCAT, Chloe Hayward LCAT, ATR-BC, Lindsay Lederman MPS, ATR-BC, LCAT, ATCS, Jason Montalvo MPS, ATR-BS, LCAT and Ariel Miles LCAT-ATR.

Sifting Through The Now

A Virtual Client Art Exhibition

October - November 2020

In ancient Greek, the root of the word crisis (krisis) means ‘to sift’ or ‘to separate.’ It speaks of a turning point, a decisive moment that shakes things up and forces us to choose what matters most. This deeper meaning of crisis asks us to explore and share what is most important to us as we navigate the continuously changing world we all find ourselves living in today.

Our first virtual client art exhibition allowed our clients to feel connected, celebrated and honored during this difficult time. Stay tuned for more client art exhibitions coming in 2021.
